These hand-crafted birdhouses by Jan Von Ins are really incredible. Jan builds each house out of beach stones she collects on the Lake Michigan shore near her home in Saugatuck, Michigan. She also collects pine cones from local pine forests and meticulously shingles each roof using pine cone pieces. Each birdhouse is then treated with polyurethane for a soft sheen. Jan's houses are works of art suitable for display on a mantlepiece or bookshelf. Some people put them outside for the birds, but the weather will eventually take their toll. This can be a very special gift for that bird-lover in your family.
